A FORMOSA ADVENTURE IN THE PIPELINE...

Welcome to my blog recording my travelling adventures in Taiwan!

At this point I am less than a month from my departure date, and so in the throes of planning my year-long excursion to this awesome little island in the Pacific ocean also known historically as Ilha Formosa (Portugese, meaning 'beautiful island').

It will be my first ever time visiting Taiwan, even still my first visit to any part of asia! Fortunately, my cousin Nick has lived in this part of the world for many years and is now settled in Taoyuan county with his wife Maxine. I am looking forward to hanging out and getting to know their way of life. I aim to make the most of my Taiwan experience!

I leave on January 15th from Birmingham Airport, which is four weeks away. In this lead-up I will endeavour to update my blog with ongoing events. I am unsure who will be reading this, but I am aiming to fulfil this blog to reach a range of readers, including those who are interesting in travel and work in Taiwan, family and friends who are interesed in following my Taiwan experiences (hi Mum!), and those seeking vicarious enjoyment by reading of my adventures... although if this is you, you might want to skip my descriptions of visa application processes and document authentication.

In my time away from teaching I am hoping to expand my artistic experiences too - I love to paint, and I intend update this blog with my artwork and the experiences that have influenced them during my time in Taiwan!
